Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the state, generating powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Ice Stones and Extensive Impact

Homeowners witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams handled over five hundred emergency reports across the area, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

• Wyndham region - over 175 emergency requests

At the height on the previous day, over 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.

Health Warning

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
