One 60-day voyage through Australia was terminated days after the death of an older woman who was left behind by the vessel on a remote island.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The liner left without her and went back several hours later after the crew became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

A major rescue mission discovered her person the next day.

Officials are looking into the tragedy, together with investigators and the state coroner.

The CEO of the shipping company stated that travelers and personnel on the ship were told that the remainder of the journey had been terminated due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that travelers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via chartered flights".

Authorities also released an updated communication, and said they had "issued a directive to the Captain" preventing any additional guests from getting on the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The liner first departed the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the expedition at the time of the 80-year-old's death. The tropical location was the opening port on the journey.

Guests on board - who generally pay substantial amounts of dollars to participate in the voyage - were taken there for a shore visit with the possibility of hiking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Reaction

The child of the victim said that her loved ones was "shocked and saddened that the ship left the location after an scheduled outing without my mum".

In her statement, she described her parent as an "active elderly person" who was a participant of a hiking organization.

"According to scant details we have been told, it seems that there was a breakdown of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she desired the examination would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have done that might have protected Mum's existence".
