Iran is willing to resume nuclear negotiations with Washington as long as it is handled with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

The Iranian diplomat declared solely negotiations produced results, and revealed fresh requests had come from mediators to restart discussions with the Trump administration. He said Iran had zero unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran could not yet allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit struck enrichment centers for safety concerns.

Walking a Complex Path

He was speaking at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an inalienable right to process nuclear material domestically that it will always maintain" – the main reason of the impasse in the earlier negotiations.

Earlier Negotiations Unexpectedly Concluded

The previous five rounds of discussions between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, targeted Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that ended with Donald Trump declaring the locations had been obliterated. Afterward, Western states employed their authority to reimpose international penalties, but Iran asserts they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Suggested

Iran's diplomats claimed they felt they had achieved a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in prior discussions, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since home-based processing would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been decided in the talks that US nuclear scientists could work inside Iran, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. In his speech to the gathering, intended to paint the US as a hegemonic power that misuses the notion of global regulations, the foreign minister declared the two-week conflict demonstrated the clash could not be resolved by combat operations. He stated the assaults began with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and ended with an complete request for a halt to hostilities.

He continued: "We effectively endured this conflict. Our atomic expertise, which they planned to obliterate, stays intact. The facilities and equipment, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is crucial is the will of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but were unable to shatter. The citizens of Tehran have grown more resilient, more united, and more supportive of the leadership and the state in the face of this attack."
